Mikhail Kizeyev, a State Duma member who also sits at the Healthcare Committee of the lower house of Russia’s parliament, said in a video address: “It cannot be denied that the basis for the well-being of any state is a healthy population that ensures its comprehensive development. People are the main resource, so the health and life of citizens have always been and remain a priority of government policy, both in Russia and abroad. [Russian] President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly drawn the attention of officials and lawmakers to how important and necessary it is to improve the existing regulation in healthcare. In his traditional address to the Federal Assembly in February 2024, the President instructed the government to develop new national projects, including a project to develop health-saving technologies.”

Abdulla Rashed Al Suwaidi, founder of Suwaidi Pearls and former deputy minister in the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates, said: “I come from the United Arab Emirates which has maintained a solid diplomatic relationship with Russia for more than 50 years already. The UAE was established in 1971, several months after the embassy was opened. But the UAE's growth came a little later. We are now the 12th most competitive country in the world. Here in Russia I found what I was looking for in South America, Kenya, China - alternative medicine. We, too, have alternative medicine, and representatives of holistic medical centers. I am 50 now, and, with age, certain symptoms appear, and I have not been able to find solutions to these problems in present-day clinics. And I was surprised to learn that old Russian medicine has solutions to my problems, and a variety of approaches is used for treatment. Of course, you know about banya, while I didn’t know about it. We only have banyas at fitness centers, while the Russian visit banya once a week, and this has a healing effect on the Russian. While this practice has a curative effect, Arabs, Muslims are quite new to it.”

Dr. Haiman El Nahal, General Manager of the Sharjah International Holistic Center, said that each of the countries (the United States and Canada) is seeking to integrate traditional and alternative medicine. According to him, the same trend is also being observed both in China and the Arab world. “In Islamic medicine, we talk about different types of prevention and treatment. We resort to nutritional therapy, herbal medicine, cupping therapy, ozone therapy, homeopathic therapy, Chinese medicine, acupuncture, osteopathy, and reflexology."

Yelena Shurayeva, Chairwoman of the BRICS Health Coalition and head of the Healthcare Committee at the Joint Center of Business Cooperation of BRICS, explained that, as an international NGO uniting profit and non-profit organizations, the BRICS Health Coalition, is the very integrative venue and a provider that strives to ensure that BRICS countries, which have been joined by four Islamic countries, have a full access to the best health practices at the highest professional level not only in Russia, but also across BRICS+. “In 2023, the entire market, in particular the health-saving market, not healthcare, not pharmaceuticals, but the market for health-saving technologies, amounted to $4.5 trillion. One of the programs that we support is prenatal development and childcare. And we want to hold an international prenatal music day. Under this program, a pregnant woman can communicate with her baby with the help of music, starting from 14 weeks of pregnancy. This method is more than 20 years old.”
