Russian film producer, member of the Council of the Regional Cinema Support Fund, general producer of the production center “Moovistart” Dmitry Yakunin moderated the discussion. The event was attended by Director of the Department of Cinematography and Digital Development under the Russian Culture Ministry Dmitry Davidenko, Director General of Research Center for International and Comparative Law LLC, Associate Professor of the Department of International Law of the Diplomatic Academy under the Russian Foreign Ministry Mikhail Berandze, General Producer of the Regional Cinema Support Fund Eleonora Tukhareli, Director General of the St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio Alexey Telnov, Director General of the Belarusfilm film studio Alexey Yury Maryanovich, Director of the State Cinema Center “Kyrgyz Tasmasy” Talantbek Tolobekov, Producer and Head of the Department of International Relations of Uzbekistan’s Cinematography Agency Saiyora Khudaiberdiyeva, Deputy Chairman of Tatarstan’s State Committee on Tourism Aigul Balakhontseva, film producer Angelo Sconda and Director General of the Tajikfilm Film Studio Makhmadsaid Shokhien.
Among the key reports were presentations by Dmitry Davidenko on the legal norms for co-production of films in Russia and by Director General of the Tajikfilm Film Studio Makhmadsaid Shokhien on the state policy in the sphere of cinema in Tajikistan: "In recent years, the Tajik film industry has moved to a new level of development, the quality of production has improved, as well as the meaning and content of films worthy of international festivals. Currently, there are 30 complex cinemas with 4,100 seats on the balance sheet of the state institutions of Tajikistan."
An example of co-production between Russian and Italian filmmakers was given by Italian producer Angelo Sconda: "Now we are starting to cooperate with Russia on a project that connects the history of our countries. It starts with the appearance of the Zhiguli, a car that we all know was made in Tolyatti, but it's actually a love story between a girl named Masha and an Italian boy named Mavro, who was an engineer. Of course, the problem we faced was funds and financial support. Another problem we faced was who to choose as a director: a Russian or an Italian. If the Russian fund supports, of course they want to see a Russian director, and if the Italian fund supports, they want an Italian director. We found a way out of the situation: if the story is about Italy, an Italian director will direct it, and if the story is about Russia, of course, a Russian director will be better able to reflect everything. And it seems to me that this is an amazing decision, because the film will be able to reflect two new perspectives that cover exactly this situation. Two different sides, two cultures, two stories, and I think it's amazing. I would like to say that there are really no obstacles for Italian cinema to cooperate with Russia. Let's forget politics, let's just make films. I believe that everything will work out."
The roundtable discussion brought together the world's leading experts and was marked by the signing of agreements with the State Cinema Center “Kyrgyz Tasmasy” and the St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio. The meeting participants discussed the legal aspects of creating joint films, the prospects of co-production and cooperation in the field of cinema between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world, as well as the role of film tourism and regional cinema in the cultural dialogue. The session emphasized the importance of international cooperation and protection of intellectual property in filmmaking.
