In the context of the rapid development of international capital markets and globalization of production, cross-border investment flows have increased dramatically. Both the inflow of capital from abroad and foreign investments have a growing influence on the development of the economy of each country and the world economy as a whole. Companies need to invest abroad in order to enter new markets, absorb new technologies and reap the benefits. Business representatives from OIC countries which have implemented investment projects in different regions of Russia shared their companies' stories of success.
The event was moderated by Khusyainshin Rafael Ravilievich, Executive Director of the National Association of Investment and Development Agencies.
Ecevit Oktem, CEO of Coşkunöz Alabuga, said that the company has invested more than 2.5 billion rubles in Tatarstan since 2014. As part of his speech, the speaker presented the main activities of the company and noted that most of the investments are in the automotive industry. The company specializes in the production of stamped sheet metal parts for cars and utility vehicles.
The next was Akhmed Arsaev, CFO of the Sheikh Zayed Foundation for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, who spoke about his investment success in Russia. According to the speaker, the Foundation was established in 2017. Its mission is to stimulate entrepreneurial activity through targeted support for small businesses, to increase the level of socio-economic development of the Chechen Republic. “One of the factors facilitating the success of the Fund's activities was the Strategy developed by international consultants. According to this Strategy, the main sectors of financing are wholesale trade, agriculture, transport and logistics, food production, construction services, truism and other services,” emphasized the speaker.
Cemal Nadir Can, Head of External Relations of VitrA (Eczacıbaşı Holding) shared his experience of working in Russia. In 2011, the company launched a plant for the production of ceramic tiles in the Moscow region. To date, the company has two enterprises in Russia for the production of ceramic tiles and sanitary ware. At the end of his speech, the speaker added that they plan to expand the production of ceramic tiles in the near future.
The final speaker was Metin Mete, General Director of Hayat Russia (HAYAT KIMYA SANAYI A.S.), the largest holding developing six main areas of activity. The plants HAYAT KIMYA SANAYI A.S. are located in almost all countries of the world. As for the territory of Russia, they are in Tatarstan and the Kaluga region. Here, the enterprises of the holding are engaged in the production of paper napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.
