Marat Khusnullin held a meeting of the organizing committee of the forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum"

Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin held a meeting of the organizing committee of the International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum". It was attended by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Advisor to the President of Russia Anton Kobyakov, Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov and other members of the organizing committee.

The participants of the meeting summarized the results of the 14th KazanForum held in May this year and discussed preparations for the next forum.

"This year KazanForum aroused high interest: its participants were more than 16 thousand people from 80 countries of the world. The geography of represented countries was the widest - these were the CIS countries, Middle East, Africa, South and South-East Asia. A record number of events - about 200 - took place at the Forum's venues. They resulted in the conclusion of more than 130 agreements. As a result of the forum, we were once again convinced of the deep understanding of Russia's position and openness to constructive cooperation on the part of our colleagues from Islamic countries. The next KazanForum will be held on May 16-17, 2024", - said Marat Khusnullin.

Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President and Executive Secretary of the Forum Organizing Committee, suggested using the Kazan Expo international exhibition center, where the forum is held, to organize an exhibition of technical and industrial achievements of Russian enterprises. "I would like to draw attention to the fact that we can demonstrate the greater potential of Kazan and the Kazan Expo venue. I propose that this venue, given its convenient format, should host an exhibition of Russia's technical and industrial capabilities during the forum. This event would be an organic continuation of Innoprom, which is held annually in Yekaterinburg. Such an exhibition, let's call it Kazan Expo, can become a strong brand and a good tool in the development of our relations not only with the countries of the Islamic world, but also with the Asian region in general," he said.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan and Deputy Chairman of the KazanForum Organizing Committee, the forum in Kazan is currently the main platform for economic interaction between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world. "In 2024, the event will be held for the 15th time. We propose to organize within the forum meetings of intergovernmental commissions with the countries of the Islamic world, as well as to summarize the interim results of the implementation of Islamic banking in four regions of our country: Tatarstan, Dagestan, Chechnya and Bashkortostan. Today it is a significant tool for expanding cooperation with the countries of the Muslim world," he said and added that the plans for 2024 also include the organization of a special meeting of the strategic vision group "Russia - Islamic World". Discussing the content of the business program of the forum in 2024, the participants of the meeting noted that it is necessary to preserve the traditional events and expand the range of topics that proved to be in demand at the past forum. "We propose to keep our annual events: the meeting of the strategic vision group "Russia - Islamic World", the international forum of chambers of commerce and industry, halal fair, fashion festival. Sessions devoted to the North-South transport corridor, the oil and gas chemical industry, medical halal tourism, bilateral country sessions, for example, between Russia and Azerbaijan, Russia and Malaysia, have become extremely popular. In addition, it is proposed to strengthen the topics on infrastructure, in particular construction and real estate, personnel training issues," explained Talia Minullina, Head of the Investment Development Agency of the Republic of Tatarstan.
